▌Abstract
In past years, traditional game planning curriculum emphasize much on the planning book output. The application of the game engine incorporated with “Multimedia and Game Design Introduction” course has been investigated in this study. Moreover, the game industry’s conventional prototype project was introduced into RPG type of game for Planning book proposal of college students. In addition to producing Planning book, students are encouraged to present Planning book content in a game prototype way through the simple game engine tool. We can understand the motivation and learning problems of students in the learning process based on the results obtained from this research, further to improve students’ expectations of frustration in the learning process.
The subject in this study are 54 multimedia department sophomores. The results are collected through learning motivation questionnaire responses and semi-structured interviews after the teaching process. The results showed that the utilization of the game engine can enhance students’ creative performance in the game Planning proposal. Moreover, the application of simple and rapid game engine application can also enhance student motivation. In the section of course design, in addition to the traditional game design and writing the book Planning manner of teaching, ACG digit themes (movies, comics and games) are utilized to meet four learning elements, such as Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction, to improve students’ motivation and reduce the learning process frustration. In conclusion, teaching process incorporated with the game engine has gained positive evaluation from students.
