SQ4R Learning Strategies and Cooperative Learning Used in Network Teaching System for Students’ Reading Ability

▌Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate SQ4R learning strategies and cooperative learning used in online teaching system of students’ reading comprehension and reading motivation. The object is a vocational high school students, the second year of two classes of students, a group of experimental class, the number of 32, learning in the classroom and using online teaching system; the other was the control group, the number of 30 people in the classroom but didn’t using online teaching system. The study adopts a quasi-experimental research design, research for two classes. Experimental time for three weeks, a week for 2 lessons. Before and after the experiment after previous measurements and questionnaires as assessment, t test for independent samples were compared differences in students’ assessment. Results show that the experimental group had better reading comprehension and motivation than the control group. Students are satisfied with the online teaching system and most of them are willing to access to the web site on learning to read at home.
