Abstract
This study adopted the Design-Based Research (DBR) approach to develop a digital board game for hearing health education among older adults. Data were collected through literature review, interviews, observations, and questionnaires. During the development process, a digital-integrated board game was created, in which QR Codes were embedded in the cards, allowing players to scan them with mobile devices to access extended information.
In the analysis phase, the study explored the importance of hearing health and the needs of older adults. In the development phase, the board game was designed and revised based on expert testing and feedback. In the testing phase, two older adult representatives, one hearing health expert, and one academic expert were invited to participate in gameplay. Additionally, nine players with extensive board game experience and digital literacy were recruited to provide user experience feedback and complete questionnaires.
Finally, in the evaluation and reflection phase, a satisfaction scale was used for assessment. The results showed that the overall satisfaction of the board game was high, with an average score of 4.83. This indicates that the digital board game for hearing health, developed through the four phases of DBR, can effectively enhance older adults’ knowledge of hearing health while also providing an enjoyable learning experience.
