Abstract
This study investigates how an AI-assisted insect-themed board game affects elementary students’ science learning achievement and motivation across achievement levels. Using a quasi-experimental design, upper elementary students were assigned to either an experimental group (AI-assisted board game instruction) or a control group (lecture-based instruction) and classified as high- or low-achieving based on midterm science scores.
The intervention covered basic insect knowledge and ecological conservation through board game play with real-time AI support to enhance engagement. Pre- and posttests evaluated learning achievement and motivation and compared outcomes between high-and low-achieving students. The findings may inform elementary science instruction and future research on AI-supported gamified learning.
