Abstract

This study aims to examine how ARCS combining APP’s has affected the motivation and learning effectiveness of the night school senior students in their accounting curricula. Designed to be a research experiment, this study targets four teaching periods in six weeks. A total of 59 students from two senior night school classes of a vocational high school in Taipei city were the research targets. The number of the students in the control group is 27, and the number of the students in the experiment group is 32. For the experiment group, instructions integrated with ARCS and Apps was provided in their accounting lessons. As for the control group students, their accounting lessons were taught traditionally. The research instruments included the Accounting Learning Motivation Scale and the Accounting Learning Effectiveness Test, which are quantitatively analyzed with descriptive statistical analysis, independent-sample t-test and two-sample t-test. The conclusions are:
1.In terms of the motivation to learn the accounting curricula, the experiment group students are superior to the control group students, which proves that ARCS combining App’s can better motivate students.
2.In terms of the learning effectiveness in the accounting curricula, the experiment group students are superior to the control group students, which proves that ARCS combining App’s can increase students learning effectiveness.
3.ARCS combining App’s is superior to the traditional teaching.
Based on three conclusions, we hereby offer our suggestions in terms of teaching design, accounting teaching, and any other relevant research.
