Abstract
The study aimed to design and development of AR Mandarin phonetic symbols cards for the lower grades of elementary school teachers to enhance their effectiveness on teaching Mandarin phonetic symbols. This study through literature review and interview with eight the lower grades of elementary school teachers who have more than ten years teaching experience in New Taipei City, the paper attempted to understand the difficulty of teaching Mandarin phonetic symbols and actual demand of teachers, and designed and developed of AR Mandarin phonetic symbols cards based on the teachers’ requirement. The developing process referred to ADDIE model , designed eight AR Mandarin phonetic symbols cards based on the initial Mandarin textbook lesson 1 of Kang Hsuan version. It contained four parts in content, including Mandarin phonetic symbols recognize-reading , writing, spelling and tone recognition. The paper conducted formative evaluation materials through the scale and interviewed teachers to discuss whether if the materials met the teaching requirement, the teachers’ satisfaction with teaching materials, and materials revise opinions. The study results are shown: AR Mandarin phonetic symbols cards received a positive affirmation in interface design, content design, functional design,and multimedia animation design.The results can be used as a reference for future study.
