Abstract

Through literature review and interviews with three middle-grade elementary school teachers, this study developed a teaching design for a third-grade writing course by using the elements of story structure, such as “Setting”, “Role”, “Theme”, “Plot” and “Outcome.” Based on these elements, this study also developed an electronic picture book that can be applied in the third-grade writing course. This teaching approach could be a promising strategy in practice to improve students’ writing motivation and achievement in the future.
